Void over Lake Wesserunsett
This piece is a mirrored video projection documenting the artist disappearing into a void and then returning from it. The fog bank in the video naturally occurs during rainy summers over lake Wesserrunset. I am interested in producing images that reference the sublime—a moment when apprehension is greater than comprehension or when astonishment overwhelms rational thought—as it exists in an individual’s everyday life. Every rainy day I would wake up to the engulfing image of a fog bank over lake Wesserrunsett and became fascinated with how reality and one’s sense of location could so easily be altered by the presence of a sublime aesthetic. This audio is a recording a cello droning on on both the C and G.
