Walk, 2003, video performance

Video available at request

In 2003 I walked down Broad Street (Route 250), the longest road in the state of Virginia. I started my 12+hour trek at 25th and Broad street, the location of Patrick Henry’s famous Speech. I first walked through the oldest part of the city, then through the modern, then outward through both the Urban and Suburban sprawl, I even reached the soon to be developed woodland before returning on the same path. After which I sped the recording of this 26+ mile walk so that the entire action takes place in about 3 minutes. It was my intention to show the face of a city and perhaps even a country by showing its visual fingerprint rather than its individual buildings
